Veritas Wine awards

What a wonderful evening. Arriving with lines of bubbly to pick and choose from. Then the snacks arrived with some fresh oysters. Some of the bubblies were even vintage ones. All the wine and bubbly for the night came from the Veritas entrants. Diana and myself sat with people from Rheebokskloof and the winemaker and cellar master of Steenberg. Our first white wine was a very good blend from Vondeling the Babiana. From there on it was hit and try again. We got a Sav Blanc from Wellington that won a gold. We did not get that lucky with the reds. So we spent the evening drinking white wines. Spier was the farm with the most double golds 5 and 2 golds. Other farms with the best results were Nederburg , Simonsig, Anura and Kleine Zalze. At the end of the evening they hauled out the brandies. We tasted the Kaapzicht 10 year and the KWV 20 year and Klipdrift 10 year. All superb Potstill brandies.
