Tasting at Haskell.

Posted by PicasaWhat a nice day at Haskell (Dombeya). We have been very lucky to be the first ones to reply to attend the Cab Sav tasting with the wine maker. We tasted the different barrel samples of the Merlot first all 2009 , then Cab Sav, and then blends. Then a mystery bottle of Cabernet that was absolutely mind blowing. When revealed it was a 1999 Paul Cluver Cabernet. What a good wine ten years down the line. We had lunch and Diana had Catch of the day fish and I had Moroccan lamb shank with Dombeya Bordeaux blend, it worked well with both meals. What a lovely place to have a meal.

Drive home on Fryday night sunset just before Melkbosstrand.

Snow in Citrusdal.

Driving out of Citrusdal on Friday I took this pickture of the town and the mountains. We had very cold weather this past week . Frost every morning and some mist thrown in to make it interesting. I did my second week on the home trainer and already started picking up weight . One more week and will increase time every night. At least the days are getting longer and then I can start riding again. Realy looking forward to the summer when I can go riding every night. Going for a long walk on the beach at Bigbay. Was very cold here when we woke up 5 degrees gone up to 9.2 now 09:50. Look like it is going to be a lovely day.

This is snow on the mountain on the way to Moorreesburg . Late afternoon sun realy made it look good.

Wine tasting at Signal Hill.

What a wonderfull tasting , it was rather a history lesson on world wines than just a tasting. We arrived and have had a couple of his wines. We paid for the entry level tasting and got one of the most wonderfull tastings. This man is realy passionate about what he is doing. Webought a bottle of his Bubbly that he degorged out on the pavement and recapped for us to drink at home. His red wines was realy some thing to write home about. We also bought a bottle of his 2006 Pinot Noir. He also sell wine by the glass, what a place to go for a glass during lunch. Shortmarket street Heritage Square. That is his address ,and the new bus run past here. Go and try it.

Drive home.

This is all oranges that go for juice extraction at the juice plant. We get hundreds of cases a day all with skin marks and fold marks but the fruit is perfect.

Green fields on my way to Blaauwberg just after the Eendekuil turn off, I call it Duckfontuin.

Sunset on the way to Melkbos very pretty clouds. I started riding my home trainer every night do 20 minutes and log hart rate and distance. Thursday night I did 25 minutes and thought we would ride this weekend. Not complaining , but enjoying the rain. Hope to keep the training up until summer. Will start a weekly report on my training.Posted by Picasa
