Sunset Gordensbay. 25/04/2010.

We spend Saturday and Sunday in Hermanus and took this picture on our way back. What a lovely day in the Cape. No cycling and colected my home trainer that I can start riding in the evenings in my flat. We went winetasting at Gabrielskloof and Wildekrans. Gabrielskloof has got a lovely Bordoux blend that should be very good to drink in a year or more. If you want to drink it now decant it and it should be very good. Wildekrans also had some brilliant reds and a very helpfull tasteroom attendant that knew her product very well. There Pinotage is just great. They also have a lovely Cab.Franc Merlot blend that is realy an easy drinker.

No walking.

Did not ride or walk today just got up late and started to cut chickens up that Diana bought yesterday. Packed them in packets to freeze and start cooking chicken stock with the carcasses and then took the meat off to make a lovely chicken pie. 50 grams butter 45ml flour melt butter and stir in flower now start adding warm milk keep stiring untill 600ml been added. Add a teaspoon of white pepper a teaspoon of Dijon mustard and if you made it with unsulted butter some salt. You will need about 500 grams of cooked chicken,1 cooked onion 2 cooked carrots teaspoon of garlick (optional)plus a punnet of cut mushrooms. Put in a greased ovenproof dish , pour whitesause over and cover dish with pastry.Bake at 180 degrees for 30 minutes or until brown. Enjoy with a well wooded Chardonay or Chenin. Enjoy.

Wonderfull weekend.

What a good weekend so far. The Stormers won the Bulls lost and the Sharks won. Will try to go for a ride tomorrow. Shame poor Dick Muir. They still need to play the Bulls and that should keep them at the bottom.

House at Blaauwberg.

Went for an hours walk on Blaauwberg beach. Find this house that I took a pickture off in 1985. Bit neglected now but at that stage it was the only house there. Now it is surounded by plenty houses. What a beatiful morning it was. No wind and a very low tide. People taking out white mussels. Got home and made a nice veggie soup for lunch. Drank a very nice Shiraz from Elgin Valley Vineyards 2008 with it. What a good easy drinking wine. Ready for a snooze now.

Whoza weekend.

Another day in Citrusdal. Rain this morning just after six.Mad day at work. Starter brake down day. Hope tomorrow will be better. We are suppose to start packing in all the stores by Wednesday next week but still no hire forklifts. Next week all hell will brake loose. Hundreds of contract workers and lots of Bossmans Transport trucks on the road. Time for the rain and cold weather to start lovely winter.

Long week.

Sunday we as in my son his girlfriend and me went for a ride in Blaauwberg. Only find out then why people ride so slow on the beach. It is really hard work to ride on sand with a mountain bike. We also did some short climbs to arrive back home with wobbly legs. At work we are now realy in the swing of things. Packing at great speed. At the moment Clammentines. Today we also packed some oranges for the local market. Riding is not happening. Pumped my road bikes front wheel to go for a ride on Monday night only to brake the valve. No tube no ride. Realy will have to bring my mountain bike to Citrusdal'

After easter.

Going back to work and need to ride in Citrusdal. Four o clock tomorrow morning back to work. Another 4 day week start feeling like a Frenchman. Four day work weeks very good for me. We are packing at speed and hope to get our new forklifts this week. ot going to take my new bike up tomorrow. Another week on thinwheel bycicle I think I am a bit of a softy not want to ride it. Time wil come that I wil have to face the facts, and start riding up the mountain with a mountain bike. Uncle call it a tracter and that is what it is, but it is very easy to ride offroad. Wind has been blowing here for the last couple of days right through the night. Realy cool tonight. Had the whole family over . We had more visetors in last six months than we had in 13 years together. Need to look at bigger house with 2 bathrooms.

First ride.

Had my first ride on my new mountain bike. No more 7kg road bike ,mutch higher cadance and more effort just to keep moving. Did get home with wobbly legs. This week is going to be very interesting.Need to do bike setup and get cycle computer.

Easter and week before.

Had two good rides this week. Up the mountain each night. The roads are getting very busy with trucks because citrus packing has started. The best place now is to ride up the mountain and dirt roads. At work it is just a mad house working with all the old forklifts. Yesterday at three a forklift with broken engine mountings. One hour to remove and replace them. This was another one of the previous guys "great ideas" V 6 Ford engine mountings on a forklift. When they broke, the fan get smashed on the cowling. So had to make a plan.Cut and drill old mountings and put bolts straight through. Problem solved. Of to Cape Town roads in mad state. Lucky every body was going up to the west coust. With a roadblock in every town.
