25 December 2010.

We had a wonderful day, an early morning ride with our bicycles and then coffee and mince pies. Time to open presents , and then on to cooking food for the day. Two Peking ducks slowly fried in the weber to get all the fat out. Then making salads and at 2.30 time to start eating. What a day good ride, good food, and good wines. Now time to go to bed. Another ride tomorrow morning. At one stage we thought a ride on Christmas morning is insane, now we did the same.

Argus training.

We started training again on Saturday morning. Two weeks of non riding and antibiotics dont help , but this morning it all got better again. Had a hard ride towards Cape Town into a strong south easter. Riding back was much easier. After we arrived home the wind stopped blowing to have a lovely day. Not as hot as yesterday. Max only 26 degrees. Now only 16 degrees. Humidity 65 at moment. Will go riding tomorrow again.

Walkerbay , first week of leave.

My first week of leave flew past without riding my bicycle once. Been on strong antibiotics the whole week for a chest infection. Today the first day that I really feel like doing something. We did go to Hermanus last weekend and did some interesting wine tastings. The first place we went was Benguela Cove where we had a good tasting with a very knowledgeable tasting assistant. The best wines here were their Sav. Blanc 2010 and the Shiraz 2009, very nice. My sister was not feeling good at this tasting, that's her drinking water in the background. Then we went to Ataraxia, they have only got 2 whites and a red blend. Sav. Blanc really good but need more time but their Chardonnay 2009 is wonderful so is their Serenity red blend. The tasting room with nice art and really looks like a little church. Wonderful tasting and also nice tasting assistant. Now tomorrow I will be back on my bike. Want to be able to do a 100 km training ride the first week in January.

David Kramer's Breyani at Baxter Theatre.

What a wonderful evening starting with a tasting of Solm-Delta's wines. Very interesting Bubbly made from Shiraz with a very low alcohol called Cape Jazz Shiraz. A white blend of semillon, chenin blanc and vine-dried clairette with a bit of wood called Vastrap. Then the third one called the Langarm a blend with pinotage, shiraz and petit verdot. Then came Kramer and his ten-member band. What a lovely evening of interesting stories and lovely old songs. What a lot of talent this whole band has. This is really worth listening to.

Golf day at Goede Hoop Citrus.

Dirk chipping onto the green. Danie and Roes Visser partners in crime. Next pic is Barry, Kosie and Ronaldo with the beers after the game. The winner of the day how this happened I don't know. Second and third place was also a big surprise but fun was had by most of us. Lots was drunk and a lot of stories were shared. This year I really enjoyed it playing with Dirk, Paul and Francois. Drinking carried on until after eight o'clock.
